The Brothers Marciano; Love, Laughter & Loyalty bound them together Ambition, Drive & Deception nearly tore them apart
Four young Moroccan Jewish brothers from Marseille, came to America in the 1980s to chase their dreams. They fell in love with Los Angeles and Hollywood and created a jean company that turned into one of the most iconic fashion brands in history. They forever changed fashion advertising and launched the careers of many of the most sought after models and photographers of the last three decades.
They endured an ugly war with (Joe, Ralph and Avi), founders of Jordache Jeans ) and won. Their goal was to gain capital and manufacturing expansion for their exploding business, in return for 50% ownership interest in Guess. Unfortunately, just 6 months later, an ugly war breaks out between both families and the fight for Guess’s survival hangs in the balance. After 6 years of public court battles and 25 million in legal fees the Marciano’s eventually prevail and regain full ownership of Guess
Then the Marciano brothers struggled internally to keep peace, with multiple lawsuits, illness and brotherly rivalry. However the creative genius of Paul Marciano,( whose fascination with film and its sex symbols, changed the way fashion approached advertising), mixed with George Marciano’s business brilliance, transformed a small denim company into a multinational clothing empire. .
These iconic cinematic campaigns are embedded into our psyche and play a large part in American pop culture.
